Hi Reader!

Ever wake up at 3 AM, heart racing, mind spinning with all the "what ifs" that could go wrong?

Or avoided doing things out of fear?

Yeah, me too.

The impact of fear is perfectly depicted in the Nine of Swords tarot card.

As you can see, the figure in the card is covering their eyes, showing that sometimes our fears feel more real than what's actually happening around and in us.

But here's the powerful thing - when we take hold of our fears and befriend them, they can become tools that help us transform.

Here's an example. Let's say you're avoiding telling your partner that something in your relationship isn't working because you're afraid of hurting their feelings.

(When 9 of Swords comes up, there are usually many fears at play, but for the sake of this email, we're just going to confront one of them.)

Now let's take that fear and follow it down to the roots of the issue.

If you confront your fear instead of avoiding it, you might realize that you're constantly trying to change your behavior to control how other people feel. (News flash, it's impossible to control other people's feelings. I learned that the hard way.)

Go one level deeper, and you might uncover the fact that you don't feel safe if someone is upset with you.

If you ask yourself, "Why is it that I feel unsafe if someone is upset with me?" you might remember that as a kid, your mom was constantly telling you not to make your dad mad.

And maybe you'll recall that his anger was actually perfectly safe - it was just that your mom wasn't comfortable with big feelings.

So (in this made up scenario), your fear is actually based on your mom's discomfort with big emotions. So it's not even your own fear!

Or maybe your dad became violent when he was angry. In which case, your fear is based on survival skills you learned as a kid and has nothing to do with your current partner.

Either way, understanding the root of your fear can help you heal and support the part of you that needs attention - and have the courage to approach your partner about something they may not like, which is essential for building a close and secure relationship.

Each fear you confront can help you understand yourself more deeply and therefore reach a new level of self-compassion and healing.

This is the magic of tarot. It's not about fortune-telling; it's about fortune-creating.

By facing these fears head-on, you're unlocking the portal to:

  • Deep self-knowledge
  • Potential healing
  • Showing up as your full, trusting self in ALL your relationships (including the one with yourself)

So the next time you find yourself trapped in a Nine of Swords moment, take a deep breath. Look those fears in the eye. And remember – you've got the key to transform them into your most powerful tools.

Until next time, keep facing those fears and embracing the magic within you.

Here's to your worthy heart,

Daniela

Hi Reader! Yesterday, after feeling hurt by two people in my life, I wrote this sentence in my journal: I am done hiding. I started hiding as a kid. (And not in a hide and seek kind of way.) I ran away any time I had strong feelings that I didn’t know what to do with. Desire, fear, sadness, anger…any intense feeling was a reason to run. It was only decades later that I learned about my Scorpio Moon and began the slow (and still ongoing) process of befriending my deeply feeling self. You may...

Reader, what brings you pleasure? For me, it’s a hot cup of coffee in the morning, the feel of my dog’s soft fur under my hand, a tiny bouquet from the farmer’s market on the table. Pleasure is walking through an airport blasting Third Eye Blind in my AirPods, the knowledge of an upcoming adventure singing through my veins. Pleasure is crawling into bed and pulling the covers over my tired body after an exhausting day. Pleasure is pausing in the middle of a duet with my daughter and watching...
